Quaker Dialogue 9

Saturday, 7 May, 2011 - 14:00 to 17:00

Holy Spirit or Wholly Human?

in partnership with Quaker Universalists

Rachel Muers and David Boulton

chair: Beth Allen, clerk of London Quakers

  • What do we mean by ‘spirituality’? Do we think of it as a divine gift or a human attribute?
  • Whether divine or human, how do we find the words to talk about it in an essentially secular society?
  • However we choose to speak of spirituality, what does it mean in action and how does it play out in our everyday lives?

This will be a lively and provocative afternoon to help clarify thinking.

Rachel Muers, senior lecturer in Christian Studies at the University of Leeds, a lifelong Quaker, currently member of Leeds Area Meeting and author, including Living for the Future (T&T Clark 2008) and Keeping God’s Silence (Blackwell 2004)
