A time for visioning: Growing the Quaker Tree – with deep radical roots, strong outreaching branches, vibrant nurturing leaves

Julia Ryberg

In 2009 Julia gave a memorable talk, Creating Connections, to the Yearly Meeting Gathering in York. London Quakers are delighted to have an opportunity of hearing this inspiring speaker again as she passes through London after speaking to the Quaker Universalists.

Julia was born and raised in an American Quaker family before coming to Europe to live in Sweden. She has a Master of Divinity from the Quaker seminary, Earlham School of Religion, in Richmond, Indiana USA. She now works for the Europe and Middle East Section of Friends World Committee for Consultation in Ministry and Outreach; for Woodbrooke as European Project Coordinator; and for Swedish Friends as resource person.

“I continue to explore how I can reclaim the heart of the Christian message and feel connected to that tradition, while remaining healthily critical of so much of the ‘wrapping paper around God’ ”.
