Ripple of water

"Our religious experience leads us to place a special value on truth, equality, simplicity and peace. These testimonies, as they are known, are lived rather than written. They lead Quakers to translate their faith into action by working locally and globally for social justice, to support peacemakers and care for the environment."

Royal School of Needlework

The Royal School of Needlework and Bridging Arts are seeking faith partners for a project in north London, to possibly be funded through “Faiths in Action”

Bridging Arts aims to help immigrant women feel part of their local community through working on embroidery projects which include stitch and design from their respective cultures.

Faiths in Action is a funding stream administered by the Community Development Foundation and aimed at helping delivery of the government’s interfaith strategy. (see weblink below)

Bridging Arts has an enthusiastic muslim group in Harlesden and are looking for another faith partner for this project.

If you or someone from your Meeting might be interested in finding out more, please contact Gill Holdsworth of Kingston Meeting via the Contact form below.

Bridging Arts and the RSN have recently been working on a project funded by Wandsworth Council teaching workshops to groups of women who produced embroideries incorporating stitched elements from their own countries and English traditional embroidery. The results were displayed in local libraries. During the workshops, women got to know each other, exchanged ideas and developed an understanding of each others’ cultures.
